The end of August marked the official end of our project, SPEAR. Over the course of these 4.5 years, we’ve built a network of science and friendships! I think we can all say it’s been a nice journey together 🙂
Since our first meeting in an fancy French chateau in the days of COVID-19, we’ve traveled though Europe together: Grenoble, Leuven, Gothenburg, Halle, Hamburg, Donostia… to learn about spin currents, skyrmions, topology, how to speak about these topics and what kind of a career you can build around them…

You’ve worked hard (and filled out maaany a 6-month report to prove it) and exhaustively and personally planned your careers on the short term (1 year) and the long term (5 years)…!
You’ve seconded and perhaps learned this word for the first time, like I did. But did you learn to pronounce it? (It’s se-COND and se-COND-ment)
You’ve become accomplished authors (check out all these publications— a couple dozen more are in the making!) and heck, some of you are already doctors–and the rest of you will be soon!!
When I got the job, I didn’t imagine it would throw me together with such lovely bunch of people. It’s been really nice to be a part of your PhD adventures. <3
… so I guess, to be fair, for that I should gratefully acknowledge our funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement Nº 955671. 😉
I wish you all the best in your next steps and hope we meet again somewhere!!
Affectionately,
Your network manager 🙂
